"Hollywood can have its Grammys and Nashville its Country Music Awards, but there was no topping the magical Wammies, the annual awards fĂȘte of the Washington Area Music Association, at the State Theatre in downtown City of Falls Church last Sunday night. Again this year, Falls Church was host to the sold-out celebration, where awards were announced to nominees in scores of categories, spiced up with first-rate musical performances including by legend Tom Paxton. Falls Church Mayor Nader Baroukh greeted the celebrants and the Falls Church News-Press hosted the VIP Reception beforehand at Argia's Restaurant, with four of its crew on hand. WTOP - 25th annual WAMMIES celebrate a legend who has entertained and challenged generations including today's children.
