 P.A.S.S. Contest
WAMA is sponsoring the P.A.S.S. contest to help artists receive
the training and recognition to take their music to the next professional
level. From the eligible entries, three artists (either individuals or bands)
will be awarded a Prize Package of Services by a panel of
judges. This is not a song contest. Judging will lean towards performance value. One of those three Finalists will also be awarded the Grand Prize package.
Prizes: Grand Prize:
Performance at the 26th Annual Wammies $1500 Credit at Oasis Disc Manufacturing
Finalist Prizes: Each of the three Prize Package of Services will
consist of the following:
- 7 hours of recording time at
one of the following studios:
Bias, Cue, Recording Arts - 1
hour consultation with one of the following entertainment lawyers:
E. Scott Johnson, Laura
Jordan, Kenneth Kaufman - 1
hour consultation with one of the following publicists:
Mary Sue Twohy, Ruthie
Logsdon, Loralyn Coles
- 1 hour consultation with one of the
following managers:
Tom Carrico, Maggie Coulter, Richard Burgess, Ph.D
- 1 free conference registration to the Dewey Beach
Music Conference
- 1 showcase performance at a Crosstown Jam
concert. (Grand prize winner performs at the Wammies, but not the Crosstown Jam.)
Eligibility: - All entries
must be received by the midnight, September 30, 2011 deadline.

Each entry must be wholly original (co-writers allowed) and shall not infringe
on any copyrights or any other rights of any third party. Each entrant shall
hold WAMA and service providers harmless from and against claims inconsistent with these
requirements.
- WAMA reserves the right to determine
which service provider is in which prize package, and which prize package is
awarded to each winner.
- Judging: Judges are chosen
for their knowledge of the Washington, DC music scene and for their expertise
in the music business, and are not paid.
- Notification: The three
Winning Artists will be notified by email or by phone before
Oct. 27, 2011.
WHO MAY ENTER
Any musician or group who meet any or all of the
following criteria:
- who live, or are located in the Washington area;
- derives a majority of its income from the Washington area;
- performs in the Washington area on a regular basis, and is
generally considered to be a Washington area group, performer, or
musical entity;
For the purpose of WAMA, the Washington area shall be considered
to extend to and include: Columbia, MD to the north; Fredrick, MD to
the northwest; Leesburg, VA to the west; Fredericksburg, VA to the
south; and Annapolis, MD to the east.
