WAMA News: The 2-4 times per month email newsletter keeps the membership up-to-date on the latest in the
local and national music scene. Regular columns include: Local Notes; New Releases; Seminars
& Workshops; Studio News; Classified Advertising, and WAMA Member Discounts.
Crosstown Jam Program: Annual one-week series of concerts, featuring more than 150 groups,
hosted by venues in DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia. Production staff and musicians
volunteer their time and services to raise money for local charities.
WAMMIES Program: The annual event recognizes significant career achievements by area
musicians and music industry professionals. Nominations and balloting come from the WAMA
membership. The Wammies show includes presenters from local newspapers, television and
radio personalities as well as performances by Washingtonians. Past performers and honorees
have included: Mary Chapin Carpenter, Bo Diddley, Hot Tuna, Nils Lofgren, Jimmy Dean, 2D
Extreme, Cleve Francis, Joan Jett, Emmylou Harris, Ron Holloway, and the Clovers.
